These palettes are made from offcuts from a sustainable Indigenous Forestry Operation here on Mantoulin Island, each piece is carefully selected for character and strength. They are cut drilled and sanded by hand.
This collection shows paint palettes set in wood block. Hand cut and sanded palettes made from reclaimed birch with bark still on, filled with just pigment and binder, so saturated the personality of the pigment really shows through. Wooden blocks to hold our paintstones are also made from reclaimed white cedar, live edge red pine, and Balm of Gilead (which has an amazing history you can check out here!) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balm_of_Gilead
